Key Fob Programming — FAQ
01Can you reprogram my fob if it just stopped working?
Yes — fobs lose sync when the battery is dead for a long time or after a car battery disconnect. We re-pair the fob to the BCM in a few minutes. If the fob is physically damaged, replacement is the path forward.
02I just need a fresh battery — do you charge for that?
If we're already on-site for another job, battery replacement is included. As a standalone visit, we don't typically dispatch just for a battery — most parts stores swap them for $5–$10 in the parking lot.
03Is OEM better than aftermarket for a fob?
For lock/unlock/panic functions, modern aftermarket is reliable and saves money. For factory keyless-go (smart key, push-to-start), we strongly recommend OEM or OEM-remanufactured for signal reliability.
04Can you program a fob without the original key?
Yes, with diagnostic-tool access. That said, programming the very first key on an all-keys-lost vehicle costs more because the immobilizer module has to be put into 'add new key' mode using OEM security data.
Locked out or lost your keys? On-site in 20–45 minutes.
VIN-based flat-rate quote in writing before we dispatch. No surprises at the curb.
